How to Create Change in Your Life
The greatest constant in life is change. The world around us is constantly changing. At times our world changes so fast, it’s difficult to keep up. Yet, despite the never ending movement and flux within our world, perhaps the greatest challenge any of us face is to effectively create change within ourselves. Learning how to create transformation within ourselves, and doing so effectively, is what this website/blog is about.
The Three Amigos of Change
So, how do we go about making changes in our lives? Whatever it is about ourselves that we are looking to change—our behavioral patterns, our relationship with money and abundance, our bodies, our state of spiritual understanding or enlightenment, our attitudes, our jobs, etc.—the process of transformation is remarkably similar. To be truly effective in transforming ourselves, we have to effect change at three different levels of our being: our conscious mind, our subconscious mind, and our energy (our habituated energetic and emotional response to specific events and beliefs). All three of these parts of ourselves are closely integrated. They’re like three good friends who work together. We’ll call them the three amigos. While it’s pretty easy to change our minds at the conscious level, changing our minds at the subconscious level and changing the flow of our energy requires some skill. Fortunately, there are a number of self-help tools available (many of them free) that can help us to create change within ourselves. But first, let’s take a close look at the three amigos of change.
1. Our Conscious Mind – This is the amigo we know and understand the best. It’s the part of our mind that learns through the five senses and evaluates, analyzes, and judges what we perceive through our senses. Our conscious mind is the decision maker, the boss. It’s the amigo that decides when it’s time for a change. But our conscious mind requires help from the other two amigos in order to create change successfully.
2. Our Subconscious Mind – This amigo is mysterious and powerful. It circulates the blood through our circulatory system, is in charge of digestion and elimination, carries out all the involuntary functions of our body, and has myriad other responsibilities. But our subconscious has three functions that relate directly to our ability to create change. First, our subconscious is the home of our emotions which accounts for its dominance of the conscious mind. Secondly, it’s the storehouse for our memories and belief systems. And thirdly, our subconscious carries out our habituated patterns of behavior (based on our stored belief systems). Without question, the subconscious is the key to effective transformation.
3. Our Energy – This is the least understood of the three amigos. Very often, we hardly notice our energy—especially in relationship to our beliefs—unless the emotional energy is fairly big. But changing our energy is a critical component if we want to be successful in making changes in our lives. There are times when our energy, in relation to things we want to change or create, is misaligned with the beliefs required to make that change. Bottom line, we need to align our energy with our beliefs in order to be successful and create change.
Simply put, we create change by getting the three amigos to work together towards a common goal. It’s critical to get our three friends perfectly aligned in relation to whatever change it is that we want to make.
When it comes to creating effective change, the two most effective tools I’ve found are Hypnosis and varying forms of Energy Alignment. Hypnosis can create change at the subconscious level and, to a degree, at the energetic level. Energy therapies can create change energetically and emotionally but don’t reprogram the subconscious as far as belief systems go. As a hypnotherapist, obviously I’m a bit partial to hypnosis as a tool for transformation. But I recognize that hypnosis does not always cover all the bases, and combining hypnosis and energy alignment makes perfect sense when dealing with issues that have an inherent emotional (energetic) component. So, in the next few years I’ll be experimenting and creating some Hypnotic Energy Alignment mp3s that merge these two powerful transformational strategies. And I plan to have a lot of fun doing it. Hope you join me.
